It is designed to ignite bookish discussions among readers, and was inspired by the 1961 Neil Sedaka song, Calendar Girl.
How does it work?
Just like the song, each month has a different theme. Read on to find out the theme for December…
Each blogger picks their favourite book from the theme, and on the first Monday of the month reveals their pick in a Calendar Girls post.
Make sure to post back to the hostess’s post, and Katie and Adrienne will make a master list for the month. The master lists are great, because they allow everyone to see the other Calendar Girls’ picks and to pop on over to their blogs. Thus, we all get to chat about books and make some new friends!
Anything else I should know?
Yes, actually! There’s a Twitter chat. On the 3rd Sunday of each month, at 8 p.m. EST, Katie and Adrienne will host a chat with hashtag #CGBChat, where everyone can participate and gif away. The hashtag will be used in all tweets, so you can see all the fun!
It sounds awesome, how do I get involved?
If you want in (and The Calendar Girls is totally open to anyone) then let Katie or Adrienne know with a blog comment, Twitter DM, or email, and they will make sure you stay in the loop with everything!
FIRST MONDAY OF EVERY MONTH
The first Monday of each month is Book Choice Day for that month’s theme. This is where you get to rant and rave about your favourite pick for the current month, as well as see what everyone else chose.
SECOND MONDAY OF EVERY MONTH
The second Monday of each month, Katie and Adrienne will announce the theme for the upcoming month, the chat reminder, and the voting form for both the next month’s theme and the current month’s popular choice.
LAST MONDAY OF EVERY MONTH
The last Monday of each month is recap day! Katie and Adrienne will make sure to update you on the current month’s popular choice, the chat recap, and the upcoming month’s theme.
Best Book Set in Winter
We all put up our choice on 3rd December, so stay tuned for that… I know I’m looking forward to seeing everyone else’s picks!
