WWW Wednesday

WWW Wednesday is a meme hosted @Taking on a World of Words.

The Three Ws:

  • What are you currently reading?
  • What did you recently finish reading?
  • What do you think you’ll read next?

Answer the three questions and leave a link to your post in the comments @Taking on a World of Words for others to look at!

What are you currently reading?

A Discovery of Witches

I’m doing the Book2Screen Challenge, hosted over @Whole Latte Ideas, and thought, since everyone raved about A Discovery of Witches, I would give it a go. I watched the TV series first, and that was… ok. Not really my cup of tea but it kept me entertained. So far, the book is both better and worse, but not substantially different – if that makes sense? Since I already watched the show and it seems to have stuck pretty close to the plot of the book, I feel like I know what’s going to happen at the end – and I like it. I know, I know… Weird…

What did you recently finish reading?

ink and bone

I spent last weekend in a cabin in the woods, in the snow, for my birthday and finally managed to finish Ink & Bone. I wasn’t sure when I picked it up, and it wasn’t exactly earth-shattering for me, but it was fun. I enjoyed it.

What do you think you’ll read next?

The Ruin of Kings arrives tomorrow, and it’s on my pre-order for a while. It’s one of those I’m on the fence about… It might be epic, it might be trash…

I’ve been watching Tidying Up on Netflix, which is based on Marie Kondo’s book The Life Changing Magic of Tidying. Not going to lie, the idea of a TV show about some woman helping people tidy their houses… Yeah… Whole list of sarcastic comments, right there… But I’m hooked! It’s surprisingly restful watching people tidy up… And then I tried her method on my pyjama drawer… So. Folding my clothes. Checking if they spark joy. That’s happening now… I had no choice but to buy the book, really, did I?

What are guys reading at the moment? Is anyone else now addicted to watching people tidy up on Netflix?

  1. I still haven’t seen A Discovery of Witches tv series but I’ve read and enjoyed the books. Also loved Marie Kondo tv show. Totally using her method in my kitchen: everything is stored in smaller boxes 🤗 it sparks joy when I open the draw and it’s all there organised 🤓😂

  2. Your cabin retreat sounds wonderful! I hope you were warm and cozy. Without going on a Kondo rant, I read the book first and was not happy about it. I watched a few episodes of the Netflix show, and I thought it was different than the book, so I enjoyed it more. Basically she doesn’t tell you on the show that if you have books on your shelf that you haven’t read, you should get rid of them. In many ways, her book did not spark joy for me. LOL Here’s what I’m reading:

  3. The TV series was more similar than you might expect, it stuck pretty closely to the first book. It’s not bad actually. Oh God, I’m addicted to the Marie Kondo show! I’m actually looking forward to tidying my drawers 😬

  4. Hahaha oh no books are going, that’s not happening! I think that’s where I would struggle. I even keep books I didn’t like 😬 ooo I’ll go check out what you’re reading, see if I can get some good recommendations! Thanks Sarah 🙂

  5. I really need to check it out! 😂 I just moved into a new house over Christmas and still have to organise my cloths and get my wardrobe up. I’m (like you) quite exited to start organising my cloths 😂 too bad there was only so few episodes. I could do with another 3 seasons at least. Maybe I need to buy the book. I’ll wait to see what you think of it first 😁

  7. Haha I am struggling with the idea that tidying itself will bring me joy… I feel like it will bring me boredom… but I quite like the idea of being able to find all my stuff sooo I might give it a go haha thank you! I’ll go check it out 🙂

  8. I read Tidying Up years ago when it first came out and, while I agree that the clothes folding is better, I cannot stand the laborious sock system or the idea that everything I own must be touched and spark joy. There must be balance! I also read Discovery of Witches long ago and loved it but that was long before the hype made it difficult to just pick up and enjoy. Here is my WWW:

  9. Theres a whole sock system?! I’m struggling through Discovery of Witches, it’s good so far but a tad mushy for me… the romance is slightly hindering my enjoyment! But I’m hoping it’ll pick up! Thanks! I’ll go check it out 🙂
