In the process, I came across a few that, while I DNFd, everyone else loved. They’re all in really good condition (some of them have never actually been opened… No judgement!). There’s a mix of hardbacks and paperbacks, and one first edition.
I thought it would be so nice if they went to a good home, where someone else might actually love them, and if another book blogger had the chance to review them – if they don’t already own them. Paying it forward, so to speak…
In the box…
I’m just kind of over this series… I tried to read A Court of Frost and Starlight, I’d forgotten what happened in the series a little bit by the time I picked it up, and I just couldn’t get into it.
Hardback first edition
I read and reviewed Mirage when it came out last year. You can find my review here. This book definitely split the judges, but was generally thought to be a promising debut. I didn’t love it…
I must have picked The Bear and the Nightingale up five times, and I just can’t get into it! I’ve come to the conclusion it isn’t for me… But it was considered one of the best books of 2017. Everyone else adored it and it got rave reviews.
I so, so want to love Robin Hobb’s books. I do. Everyone raves about them! The Dragon Keeper was the first one of her books I bought, I’ve tried to read it about three times, and I just don’t get it… Anyone have any suggestions for which book I actually should have started with?
I got about halfway through The Mermaid and Mrs Hancock when I decided I had no clue what the point of the story was. In the spirit of “life’s too short”, I gave up. It got DNFd pretty hard. But, yet again, everyone else loved it…
I have mixed feelings about Bernard Cornwell as a writer. Everyone else seems to love him. The series (of which The Pagan Lord is the first book) was made into a TV show. I never even opened the book… It just doesn’t appeal to me!
My friend recommended The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry, and it sounded pretty interesting so I gave it a go. About halfway through I was ready to throttle the main character. It got DNFd… But it was a bestseller and pretty widely lauded.
There’s no contest. You don’t need to do anything to “win” the box. I just thought someone out there might like a box of books!
All the books are ones that that everyone else seems to love (except me, for some reason), and many of them won awards. I think they deserve a good home!
The box isn’t super heavy, so I can ship it wherever you are.
It’s first come, first served! Comment below, let me know if you want the box, and I’ll give you my email address so you can tell me where to ship it!
