Top Ten Tuesday

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.

Places mentioned in books which I’d like to visit

1.       Chocolate Wishes

I adore the village of Sticklepond! I just want to run away and live there.

2.       Extra Virgin

Liguria sounds heavenly, and I definitely hope to get there someday.

3.       Harry Potter

I have a feeling Harry Potter is going to feature heavily on many of our lists this week… But I think we’re all just waiting for our owl at this point!

4.       The Hobbit

Oh, The Shire… It just sounds so beautiful. I’d holiday there, for sure.

5.       The Alphabet series

I love Sue Grafton’s Santa Teresa of the 1980s. I’ve heard it’s based on Santa Barbara, so maybe that’s where I need to go?

6.       Sorceror to the Crown

An alternative Victorian London with magic? Yes. Please. Fetch my zeppelin!

7.       Garden Spells

Bascom sounds absolutely magical. I love the whole idea of the Southern architecture, and the food with its magical qualities, the different families all with their own magical “thing”.

8.       The Merrily Watkins series

Ledwardine sounds so picturesque… I think I’d want to visit it in the early books though. Or the first book, when Lucy is still alive.

9.       The Invisible Library series

A giant, magical library, connected to worlds filled with fae and dragons? Yes.

10.   His Dark Materials trilogy

I love all the places in the His Dark Materials trilogy, but I’ve always been particularly taken by Cittigazze and Lyra’s Oxford.

Have you like to join me on a jaunt to any of these? Which other places would you particularly like to visit from books?

  1. You can’t go wrong with an interdimensional library! I’d love to visit it too.

I’m not so sure about Ledwardine. Lucy is amazing and Merrily is a great character but murders happen in that area with alarming regularity!

  2. Iorek is so lovely… I would definitely like to hang out with Iorek! But I think Svalbard might be a bit inhospitable
