I’ve been taking a bit of a break from blogging these last few weeks. So, if you’ve been wondering where I disappeared to – that’s what happened! Firstly, I had a sinus issue which basically prevented me from doing much at all. Secondly, I finished one job and then started another within a week. It’s been busy over here! I think, also, I’ve been reading three to four books on average a week for the last year – yes, a whole year, Mim Inkling is one year old! – and it was just time for a break.
It being my blog-iversary, I wanted to mark the occasion by looking back on the last year.
I mean, it’s been a good year!
I don’t spend a huge amount of time looking at my stats, though I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t aware of them. But I had no set “plan” in mind for what I wanted to achieve with Mim Inkling when I started out a year ago. No set number of followers or views.
In case you’re interested, here’s where I’m at:
- I55 posts – almost all of them book reviews!
- 400 WordPress followers and around 200 Twitter followers
- An average of nearly 2,000 visitors a month
I’m not exactly an internet mogul, but I’m really pleased by how this little blog, and my random musings about books, has taken off in a year.
I think, when I started this blog, my only goal was to have fun – and find a place to talk about books with other fellow bookish people. Both of which have definitely been achieved. I’ve also learned an enormous amount about books and blogging and found some fantastic recommendations through this community. That’s been amazing.
I did quickly decide that ARCs would be a cool thing to have, and I’ve been lucky enough to receive some great ones. So, that’s been a bonus. I’m still waiting on that ever-elusive physical ARC – but fingers crossed!

And that’s all folks! I’m officially back on the reading train, so expect more book reviews in the near future and a return to service as normal! Well, nearly normal… I just started writing my book, so I still don’t have as much time as before… But I have a feeling I’ll be around a little more!
